US Indices Ended of Low Note as Earnings Weigh in
Benchmark US indices ended lower on Thursday, weighed down by disappointing Jul-Sep earnings reported by some index heavyweights.
AT&T slumped 6% after the company said it lost 90,000 video subscribers in the September quarter due to intense competition. JP Morgan Chase & Co and Citigroup fell 1.0% and 3.4%, respectively, as their earnings for Jul-Sep raised concerns over consumer credit and losses in trading.
Advancing issues outnumbered declining ones on the NYSE by a 1.11-to-1 ratio; on Nasdaq, a 1.38-to-1 ratio favored decliners.
Mexico stocks were lower after the close due to losses in the Healthcare, Industrials and Consumer Goods & Services sectors led shares lower. At the close in Mexico, the IPC lost 0.35%.
